How is an arm lift performed?

When Dr. Ellen performs an arm lift, she will make an incision along the inside of your upper arm. At this incision site, Dr. Ellen will remove the excess skin that hangs from your arm and may also use liposuction to further slenderize its appearance. When a satiafactory result is achieved, she will then close the incisions with sutures and apply a surgical dressing.

Will arm lift surgery leave scars?

Any surgery will likely leave some type of scar, whether it is easily noticeable or not. Arm lift surgery will leave a scar on the underside of your arm, but it will fade slightly and flatten out over time. Patients willingly accept some scarring as a trade-off to remove the excess hanging skin.

How will I care for my arms after surgery?

When you leave surgery, Dr. Ellen will have your arms wrapped in a compression garment which will maintain their new shape. You will need to limit your activity for several weeks. Recovery may impact your job for some time, if you do much manual work. Any swelling you experience will gradualy subside and discomfort can be managed with medication. Dr. Ellen may advise you to keep your arms elevated, which will be included in your post-operative instructions.
